Isn’t it cool how sometimes people in your family get married and then you have new people in your life? I have this dude in my life thanks to my sister marrying him! Welcome to the Panclog club, Christopher Story! He shall now be known forevermore as Christory. This is the way.

Baseball is a beautiful sport that Christory and I both enjoy dearly. We planned a quick weekend to a new city for the both of us to see a gorgeous stadium. We selected Pittsburgh, PA. Before we chat about Pamela’s Diner, I shall share a dish I had from City Works near our hotel. I had a tasty Brisket Biscuits and Gravy. it was worthy of note but not close to my favorite dish of the trip. The brisket was nice and tender. The biscuit was different. It was a green onion and cheddar biscuit. I would eat it again for sure. But let’s get down to business!

P&G’s Pamela’s Diner is a lovely diner that has 4 locations in Pittsburgh. We selected the Strip District location as we could walk from our hotel!

Location/Environment: The Strip District is a cute and eclectic neighborhood with wonderful shopping and dining. There even is a large chocolate shop with so many choices that I was easily overwhelmed. But my bride said I made good choices! There was a nice wait (20 Minutes) for seats at Pamela’s Diner. So Christory and I decided to walk the block.

Right next door there is a donut shop called Peace, Love, and Little Donuts. They were quick, cute, and tasty. They did the job and filled our bellies before we got into Pamela’s. Our selections were (from top left and going clockwise) Salted Caramel Macchiato, Peanut Nutter, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Fruity Pebbles.

Service: The 20-minute wait for Pamela’s was quick and easy. We had some nice chats with others waiting. The service in all of Pittsburgh was kind and patient. They were always ready to share recommendations. Our server at Pamela’s was definitely of this same ilk. Christory and I did not know what all we absolutely taken care of.

Menu/Selection: Pamela’s Diner has beautiful diner style menu. Surprising, right? Here is a cute link that you can use to peruse the menu yourself! Christory and I did not get coffee as we already had some on the walk from the hotel and were planning on getting more after breakfast. But we ended up sharing an order of Pamela’s famous crepe style hotcakes, Lyonnaise potatoes, and Corned Beef Hash.

Pamela’s Famous Crepe-Style Hotcakes

Would you like to hear about baseball or food first? Baseball comes first in the alphabet and I am a fan of alphabetizing.

Baseball is my favorite sport because it teaches you patience and that failure is absolutely essential to living itself. I strive to go to all 30 MLB stadiums in my lifetime. Pittsburgh’s PNC Park is my 14th stadium! Look how pretty it is!

PNC Park is an absolute gem. We went to two games during our trip and got to explore the stadium and neighborhood around it.

While you are here, I’d love to share that pierogis and Primanti Bros. are very tasty in Pittsburgh. Here are some cute pics of those delicious items.

Those Pierogis were from Church Brew Works. And the Primanti Bros was a Reuben and a Pastrami & Cheese sandwich. Just beautiful.

You could probably guess that we ate well! But let’s chat about those crepe-style hotcakes!

These Pamela’s famous crepe-style hotcakes were phenomenal. The thinness of the cakes allow for the edges to become delicately crispy. This also allowed for the butter to really soak into them. It is absolutely delightful to know you could destroy a few orders of these hotcakes without a drop of syrup. I like my syrup to complement the dish and not carry it. And these were beautiful. I’d love to try more of their specialty hotcakes next time I am in Pittsburgh.

The sides were tasty but were too similar to each other. I had no idea what Lyonnaise potatoes are but they were listed as famous in the menu and that always catches my eye. These are potatoes and thinly sliced onions griddled together. These were perfect with some pepper and hot sauce on it. I would say I preferred the Corned Beef Hash more with the hotcakes. The corned beef bits added the perfect amount of saltiness to pair with the sweetness of the hotcakes.

Just writing about this meal is making my mouth water.

I would highly recommend taking trips with friends and family. Come to a baseball game with me and we can chat through the whole game.

Pamela’s Famous Crepe-Style Hotcakes with Meat: $12.29
Famous Lyonnaise Potatoes: $4.99
Corned Beef Hash: $7.99

For my random song of the post, I’d like to share with you my favorite Chappell Roan song, “Love Me Anyway

Overall: Pamela’s Diner may or may not be a Pittsburgh staple. I know that I will always think very fond thoughts on my time in Pittsburgh thanks in a big part to Pamela and her diner!
